The Habanos Festival is an event that in its own right has become a tradition for those who love good smoking all around the world.
Once more, Habanos S.A. organizes from February 24 through 28, 2003 in Havana the 5th Habanos Festival. This time the Festival will celebrate particularly the 510 Anniversary of the arrival of Cuban tobacco to the Old World, as well as five years of the commercial launching of the Trinidad trademark. Also present will be the brands of greatest prestige in the world of tobacco, among which we cannot fail to mention Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás and Hoyo de Monterrey.
The Habanos Festival is the ideal moment for exchanges among Havana cigar lovers in the world from many professional and cultural circles, among whom are all the exclusive Havana cigar distributors, businessmen and relevant personalities of culture and the media, among others.
Among the already traditional activities included in the program are the Welcome Evening, visits to tobacco plantations, the Commercial Fair, the Cigar Fans’ Seminar and the always awaited Gala Dinner with its auction and granting of the Havana Cigar Man annual awards. The 2nd edition of the interesting Habanosommelier International Contest will take place during the 5th Festival. Not to be forgotten is the visit to plantations in Pinar del Río, which will be complemented this year by a visit to the exclusive factory El Laguito, where Cohiba and Trinidad cigars are manufactured.
The Organizing Committee will be presided over by Corporación Habanos S.A., Grupo Empresarial del Tabaco (TABACUBA) and other prestigious entities and personalities invited to collaborate in the organization of the event.
During this 5th edition, the Festival has reserved new surprises for all Habanos cigars lovers such as the International Fashion Show that will be celebrated on Thursday, February 27, inspired in the world of Cuban tobacco. This fashion show will be accompanied by a dinner with an exclusive concert with personalities such as Chucho Valdés. The whole event will be conducted by Maestro Leo Brouwer with the artistic direction of Guille Vilar.
The venue of the Gala Dinner and Auction on February 28 will be Pabexpo, where an exhibition will be mounted to show different moments of the Habano in Cuba along history, from the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Island up to the present tobacco plantations. One of the attractions will be the use of different elements to create those sceneries in the hall, among them more than 8.000 sq. meters of tobacco tapado cheesecloth.
