Fonseca Du Nord: New Regional Edition for Canada
During the week of January 20 to 25, 2026, the highly anticipated Fonseca Du Nord Regional Edition was officially launched in the Canadian market. This Regional Edition, featuring the Genios vitola de galera (52 ring gauge x 140 mm in length), has been crafted Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga (Totally Handmade with Long Filler), using wrapper, filler, and binder leaves sourced from the prestigious Vuelta Abajo zone, in the Pinar del Río region (Cuba).
This launch marks a milestone, as it is the first Regional Edition for Canada following the implementation of plain packaging legislation. It demonstrates the strength of the Canadian market and its Habanos enthusiasts, who, thanks to the commitment of the Exclusive Distributor, Havana House Cigar and Tobacco Merchants Ltd., will be able to enjoy this magnificent Habano exclusively for their market.
The celebration took place in four major cities: Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, and Vancouver, where approximately 200 guests gathered to experience this exclusive release that highlights the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Habanos.

The inaugural event was held on January 20 in Toronto, where attendees enjoyed an exquisite Italian cuisine menu accompanied by a carefully curated selection of Habanos, including El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme, Quai d’Orsay No. 54, and with Fonseca Du Nord as the centerpiece of the evening. The Cuban minis family was also represented with the Partagás Chicos Purito.
The evening was enhanced with interactive activities, such as the renowned blind tasting competition, and an exchange with the team that will represent Canada at the VII Edition of the Habanos World Challenge International Contest. The night concluded with Cuban music in an atmosphere celebrating the essence of Cuba, its legacy, and tradition.
The celebration continued in Montreal on Wednesday, January 21, organized by La Casa 1492, recently appointed as the new Habanos Specialist store, at one of the most exclusive automotive establishments in Canada: Automobiles Etcetera. Guests enjoyed a Barrel Proof and Havana Club tasting, featuring rums such as Pacto Navío and Selección de Maestros, which perfectly complemented the Fonseca Du Nord experience in an elegant setting surrounded by luxury automobiles.
Simultaneously that same evening, Fonseca Du Nord made its debut at the Thomas Hinds Tasting Room, a renowned Habanos Specialist in Winnipeg. Rob Schellenberg, Operations Manager, recalled the presentation of the previous 2018 Regional Edition, underscoring the importance of exclusive proposals for Habano enthusiasts. Guests enjoyed a selection of classic cocktails, live music, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Finally, on January 25, Fonseca Du Nord was presented in Vancouver by the renowned Habanos Specialist City Cigar Emporium. The evening was characterized by a relaxed and convivial ambiance, where guests enjoyed fine music, a curated selection of food and beverages, and the opportunity to experience Fonseca Du Nord for the first time. This event not only set the tone for the launch but also highlighted the elegance of the Habano.
With its nationwide debut, Fonseca Du Nord not only brings a touch of Cuban warmth to the Canadian winter but also strengthens Canada’s connection to the world of Habanos, celebrating the tradition and artistry of Habano craftsmanship.
