La Casa del Habano Milano: two decades of passion at the Portrait
There are milestones measured not merely in years, but in curling wisps of smoke, moments of absolute exclusivity, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence. The twentieth anniversary of La Casa del Habano Milano was precisely that. Against the backdrop of the Portrait Milano, brothers Luca and Simone Borla celebrated two decades of their journey alongside thirty special guests, at an evening designed to honour the finest cigar-making tradition.
A dream setting in the heart of Milan
The Portrait, with its timeless elegance, was transformed into the perfect venue where the intimacy of a private club converged with the international prestige of Habanos. Every detail of the reception was meticulously curated, taking guests on a sensory journey that began at 7:00 PM. The evening was graced by the presence of José María López Inchaurbe and Borja Casanova, Vice Presidents of Development and Finance at Habanos, S.A., respectively, who highlighted the close bond uniting Milan with Habanos, alongside Andrea Vincenzi, Javier Anidos, and Stefano Minoia — President, Vice President, and Commercial Director of Diadema S.p.A., the exclusive distributor of Habanos for Italy — who further underscored the deep connection between Milan and the brand.
The event transformed the Portrait into an intimate and sophisticated meeting place. The evening opened with a collector’s piece: the Ramón Allones Noellas Edición Regional Italia 2020, presented to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Diadema S.p.A., the Habanos distributor for Italy. This regional edition was presented in glass jars as the perfect welcome, setting the tone for an evening of discovery.
The aperitivo — a selection of finger food — found its perfect match in the fine bubbles of Laurent-Perrier Brut Champagne, presented by Stefano Della Porta, CEO of Laurent-Perrier Italy, and Stéphane Montjourides. This was followed by further expressions from the French Maison: Laurent-Perrier Héritage, Millésimé 2015, and Millésimé 2006.
The evening’s crowning moments were marked by two exceptional Habanos:
Montecristo Herederos, a product crafted exclusively for La Casa del Habano and SP franchise stores to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Montecristo brand and the three decades since the franchise holder first opened its doors.
The presentation of La Escepción Selectos Reales Edición Regional Italia 2025, in the factory name, Campanas (52 ring gauge × 140 mm in length), presented in a cabinet of 50 units, adorned with the brand’s traditional band and the regional edition ribbon, together with the inscriptions “Exclusivo Italia” and “25 Aniversario Diadema” in tribute to Diadema’s anniversary, plus a foot band bearing the vitola’s name.
Among the other surprises of the evening was the unveiling of the commemorative La Casa del Habano Milano humidor, crafted by DeArt — a unique piece, numbered and limited to 50 examples, housing 20 Bolívar New Gold Medal Habanos.
The finale was a tribute to eternity. Trinidad 2006 17 Y.O. Flag Series rum — bottled exclusively for the occasion with only 120 bottles for LCDH Milano — and a pair of The Macallan whiskies (vintages 1958 and 1963), offered by Luca Borla and Cosimo Attanasi. These spirits, paired with the Habanos, brought a perfect close to a night when time seemed to stand still. The Montecristo Herederos LCDH & SP was savoured as the accompanying cigar pairing.
Twenty years were not merely a number for the Borla brothers, but a confirmation that La Casa del Habano Milano is, today more than ever, a temple of hospitality. A story that, much like a great Habano, continues to burn with an intensity that promises to be eternal.
