The Habanos Academy expands in Canada
Havana House Cigars and Tobacco Merchants, the exclusive distributor of Habanos in Canada, held four courses of the Habanos Academy in its market, graduating 48 professionals from the world of Habanos.
In response to the growing demand for training, two Junior Courses were held in Toronto on October 21st and 22nd, 2024, continuing the mission to advance education about the world of Habanos. This followed two Senior Courses that were held earlier in the year in Toronto and Winnipeg.
The sessions were taught by Francisco Rojas, Master of the Habanos Academy and Business Development Manager at Havana House. A total of 28 attendees participated in the Junior Course, and 20 in the Senior Course. Among the retailers and Havana House staff, special guests included the champions of the Habanos World Challenge 2024 and the Cuban Consul General in Toronto.
The courses covered topics related to the culture, heritage, and art of Habanos, from the cultivation of seeds to marketing. The attendees explored the appellations of origin, brand classifications, and the distinctive characteristics that define Habanos. They also learned about the legal aspects of the industry and the highlights of the XXIV Habanos Festival, where Canada made its debut in the Habanos World Challenge, winning the competition. Of course, each session concluded with a Habanos tasting.
Through these initiatives and others around the world, the Habanos Academy is dedicated to increasing the knowledge of those involved in the marketing of Habanos and igniting the passion of enthusiasts for what is considered the best tobacco in the world.
