V Habanos Day in Costa Rica
On may 16th 2026, Costa Rica dressed up in elegance to host the fifth edition of Habanos Day, an event organized by Cruz Canela the exclusive distributor of Habanos S.A. for Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
The celebration that consolidated the prestige of Habanos in the region one more year, becoming a meeting place for more than 100 guests, including sommeliers, mixologist aficionados and Habano enthusiasts from different countries.
The experience began on May 13th in La Casa del Habano located in San José. Where attendees had the opportunity of enjoying a pairing of Romeo & Julieta Wide Churchills and Montecristo Regata Habanos with a variety of Ron Eminente cocktails, including Ámbar and Reserva. This pairing was led by Raul Bravo, the Eminente Brand ambassador, and Pierre De Chevigny, manager at LVMH, Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. Guests also enjoyed a culinary proposal specially designed by chef Edwin Cambronero.
The highlight of this V Habanos Day took place on May 16fh at Chateau 1525 en in the province of Heredia. In this setting, surrounded by gardens and waterfalls, an exhibition unfolded that went far beyond Habanos: luxury presented itself through a display of high-end cars (Ferrari and Range Rover) as well as a curated selection of art, jewelry and watches featuring renowned brands such as Rolex, Jaeger-LeCoultre y Montblanc.
The Habano tasting was without a doubt the soul of the celebration. Featuring vitolas from brands that celebrate anniversaries this year; naturally Cohiba, in its 60th anniversary was present with Cohiba Siglo I and Cohiba Siglo III; Cuaba celebrating its 30th anniversary was presented with its Cuaba Exclusivos vitola and Vegueros also celebrating its 30th anniversary offered its Centrofinos vitola. All of this was accompanied by a twelve-course menu that fused Costa Rican and Cuban cuisine enhanced with coffee and chocolated by Café Britt
The sofistication of the pairing brought together Rioja wines, The Dalmore whisky, and the versatility of Ron Eminente, finding its perfect balance in the music. The atmosphere was created by violinist Esteban Salas and Saxophonist Jose Contreras, the Son de Tiquicia orchestra as well as DJ Minor Iztedp. In essence, was an ode to the art of fine living, where the tradition of Habanos met with the forefront of a refined lifestyle.
