III Edición de la Copa Montecristo en el Varadero Golf Club, Cuba, del 14 al 16 de Abril 2011
3rd Edition of the Montecristo Golf Cup will be held in Varadero Golf Club, Cuba from April 14th – 16th, 2011 with players from 12 countries, and the presence of great golf legend Tony Jacklin.
Habanos, S.A. is pleased to announce the Third Edition of the Montecristo Golf Cup to be held in Varadero, Cuba from 14th – 16th of April, 2011.
The first Edition was successfully held in May, 2009. The event was honoured with the presence of South African Ernie Els, one of the best players in the world, as guest of honour.
The second Edition was held in April 2010 in Varadero, and on this occasion the golf player Alvaro Quirós from Spain, one of the most outstanding players in the PGA’s European Circuit, was invited to the Montecristo Cup.
This time, the event has the pleasure to welcome Mr. Tony Jacklin. Jacklin was the winner of two major tournaments the US open and the British Open, and may be also remembered for his involvement in the Ryder Cup. He was a playing member of the “Great Britain and Ireland” team in 1967, 1969, 1971, 1973, 1975 and 1977, and of the first European team in 1979 as well as Captain of the European team with great success in the 80´s.
There will be 72 players , amateurs as well as professionals, coming from 12 countries: Germany, Canada, France, Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, United States, Ireland, Aruba, United Kingdom, Russia and Cuba.
Organized by Palmares S.A., the institution in charge of golf in Cuba along with The Esencia Group, that will also participate this year so as to repeat the success of the tournament.
The prize giving ceremony will be held on Saturday April 16th at 6:00 pm in the Varadero Golf Club. This year it will have as well the best media coverage with presence of both national and international media.
